• Submit a recent passport-style photograph taken within the last six months so it reflects your current appearance.
• Provide the photo in full colour with natural skin tones; black-and-white, filtered, beautified, or otherwise edited images are not accepted.
• Use the required photo size of 40 x 60 mm, with the distance from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head measuring between roughly 38 and 39.9 mm, and your face filling most of the frame.
• Capture the photo at a high resolution (a minimum of about 600 dpi is recommended) so it is sharp, in focus, and not pixelated.
• Use a plain, light background (plain white or off-white) free of shadows, patterns, textures, colours, or any objects behind you.
• Make sure the photo is evenly lit with no shadows on your face or behind your head and no glare, hotspots, or red-eye.
• Face the camera directly with your head straight and centred so that both eyes and both ears are clearly visible.
• Keep a neutral facial expression with your mouth closed: do not smile, frown, or open your mouth.
• Remove tinted or coloured glasses and avoid any spectacles that cover the eyes, reflect light, or cause glare; if you must wear clear glasses they must not obscure the eyes.
• Do not wear hats or head coverings except those worn for religious reasons, and even then they must not cover any part of your face.
• Save the photo in an accepted file format (commonly JPEG/JPG, and in many cases PNG) and keep the file within the portal's size limit (the portal often accepts files up to around 500 KB to 1 MB, so compress the image if it is too large).
• Upload a clear, full-colour scan or photo of your passport's bio-data (information) page showing your photo, full name, passport number, dates of issue and expiry, your date of birth, nationality, and the machine-readable lines at the bottom, with no part cut off, glared, or blurred.
• Ensure the passport bio page image is legible end to end, in colour, lies flat, and is within the portal's accepted file format and size limit.
• Complete the application in English and enter all names, numbers, and dates exactly as they appear in your passport, using the same Latin spelling and order.
• Make sure the name, date of birth, nationality, gender, passport number, and passport issue/expiry dates you type match your passport precisely, because mismatches are a common cause of rejection.
• Check that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended date of arrival in Egypt and has at least one blank page, as an expired or soon-to-expire passport leads to rejection or refused entry.
• Apply early: the official guidance is to allow at least 7 working days before departure for processing, and applying well ahead leaves time to fix any problem if the application is returned or rejected.
• Avoid the most common reasons applications are refused: a blurry, pixelated, dark, or overexposed photo; a non-plain or coloured background; shadows or glare; a name or other detail that does not match the passport; an expired or near-expiry passport; an unreadable, cropped, or low-quality passport scan; and incomplete or inaccurate form entries.
• Double-check every field and re-take or re-scan any image that looks dark, blurred, cropped, or off-spec before you pay and submit, since errors found later can delay or lead to refusal of your authorization.

• The single-entry e-Visa generally permits a stay of up to 30 days in Egypt, and the multiple-entry e-Visa permits multiple stays of up to 30 days each; always read the exact maximum stay printed on your approved e-Visa and the entry stamp you receive.
• Count your permitted stay from the date you actually enter Egypt (the entry stamp date), not from the date the e-Visa was issued, and make sure you leave on or before the last authorized day.
• Note that the visa's validity window (the period within which you must enter) is separate from the length of stay: a single-entry e-Visa is typically valid to enter for up to 3 months (90 days) from issue, and a multiple-entry e-Visa for around 180 days from issue, but each individual stay is still capped at 30 days.
• You are overstaying if you remain in Egypt beyond the last day of the authorized stay shown on your entry stamp or visa.
• If you try to leave Egypt after your visa has expired you may face difficulties, and the authorities can impose a fine; in practice short overstays are sometimes treated leniently, but penalties become more likely the longer you overstay, so do not rely on a grace period.
• Overstay fines are normally assessed and collected at the airport or port when you depart, which can mean extra queues and paying in an accepted currency, so arrive early and carry enough local currency to avoid missing your flight.
• Longer or repeated overstays can lead to more serious consequences, including deportation and difficulty obtaining future Egyptian visas or entry.
• The e-Visa itself cannot simply be 'extended' online; to stay longer you must apply in person for an extension or change of status at an Egyptian Passport and Immigration (Passports, Emigration and Nationality) office before your current permission expires.
• Apply for any extension well before your visa expires rather than after, because applying early avoids overstay penalties and is the recommended approach.
• Certain nationalities (for example Algeria, India, Lebanon, Pakistan, the Philippines, Syria, and Tunisia, with the authorities indicating more nationalities may be added) must register with the immigration authority or a police station that has an immigration desk within seven days of each entry into Egypt, regardless of their immigration status or visa category, and must present the original passport used for entry.
• If you are staying in a hotel, the hotel is normally responsible for registering its guests with the local authorities, so confirm with reception that this has been done; if you are not in a hotel, you may need to register yourself.
• Failure to register when required can cause problems on departure, block residency endorsements, and result in monetary fines.
• If you need to stay beyond your authorized period, go to a local Egyptian Passport and Immigration office before the visa expires to request an extension or change of status, and bring your passport and any supporting documents; do not wait until you have already overstayed.
